Good morning teachers and students. Today the topic of our speech is ‘Be thankful ‘
What is gratitude? Expressing your appreciation to those who helped you, and reciprocate them sincerely. Don’t be quibble about what you haven’t got, and be clear about your ability and desire. These are what the ancients said: The grace of a drop of water should be reciprocated by a gushing spring. Gratitude is an attitude of humanness, and it is also a philosophy of life.
I believe that, more or less you have heard of these touching stories about gratitude. During the spring and autumn period of China, Zi Lu, a pupil of Confucius, who grew up in a poor family and often had to eat potherb by the roadside. But he was dutiful to his parents and is very grateful to them for raising him. He always try to let his parents have rice to eat. He walked for a hundred miles for buying rice and carried them back to his parents every month without suspension. Zi Lu let us know: filial piety is also behind the Thanksgiving. In the West, gratitude is also a part of daily life. The Former President of the USA, Franklin Roosevelt, had been stolen for once. His friend wrote to comfort him, but he wrote back: ‘Dear friend, thank you for your comfort, I am all right now. Firstly, the thief stole my things but did not hurt me. Secondly, he only stole part of it, not all. Thirdly, the most fortunate of all, he was the thief, not me.’ Even in such an unfortunate circumstance, he still found three reasons to be grateful. At all times and at home and abroad, the great men of the past have interpreted the power of gratitude with their actions.
A lot of people might say, there isn’t much people that need our appreciations. That’s not true. In the trivia of daily life, those lovely people are always ignored. Be grateful to your friends, their sincereness make our lives delightful. Be grateful to your parents, their toil bring us comfortable lives. Be grateful to your teachers, their hard work provide nutrients to the growth of new generations. At the same time, we should be grateful to all labourer, they ensure the national security and the sustain the development of our society by their tireless efforts. In addition, we should be grateful to the nature, as human being, we are nourished by its great inclusiveness.
You have to remember that, gratitude should be kept in your mind and in action. With gratitude and take practical actions to be grateful for everything in your life.
